10 Tips to Get the Most Out of Your Spray Tan

Spray tanning is a safer alternative to sun tanning to get that sunkissed glow without any of the sun damage! We also offer self-tan products such as Haute Bronze and TanTowels online and in our skincare boutique that allow you to easily apply your tan at home or on-the-go.

Check out Abbey’s Top 10 tips below to get the most out of your spray tan:

  1. Exfoliate and shave prior to appointment.
  2. Moisturize dry areas (elbows, knees, ankles, cuticles, hands, ankles and wrists) the morning of your appointment to avoid patchiness.
  3. Remove all jewelry and leave off for eight hours after.
  4. Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing and shoes to and from your appointment to avoid staining and rubbing off your tan.
  5. Arrive to your appointment with your hair up and off of your face and neck.
  6. Avoid wearing perfumes, deodorant or makeup that can create a barrier for absorption.
  7. Do not get wet for 8 hours after a spray tan (including rain, sweating and showering).
  8. After 8 hours has passed, rinse off in the shower to remove the color guide and reveal your beautiful new tan!
  9. To extend the life of your spray tan, avoid using harsh exfoliants, scrubs, pore strips, etc.
  10. Moisturize frequently after your spray tan to prevent your tan from rubbing off due to dry skin. With proper care, a spray tan typically lasts an average of 10 days.

***A spray tan does not have SPF and is NOT a substitute for sunscreen. Use SPF on a daily basis to avoid sun damage. Even if you never sunburn, ANY change in skin pigment after sun exposure is a sign that your skin cell’s DNA has been damaged.
